To-do list

So Yasune has been on hold since I've been very occupied with school (and anime and Minecraft). So I thought, in the meantime, I would set some goals:

Firstly, as I said in the last post, I would like to rerecord Yasune's voicebank. It will become Yasune's soft voicebank, since she normally has a very soft voice and I would like to keep it that way in the initial rerecord.

Secondly, I would like to make a strong voicebank for Yasune. There'll be 2 separate voicebanks, the soft one and the strong one. There are so many songs I'd like to use Yasune for, but with her voice as soft as it is, it just doesn't really fit properly. So I'd like to record a secondary voicebank, using a stronger voice, so I can use either depending on which one suits the song better.

Third, I want to give her a costume redesign. I'll keep her old costume as well but I'd like a proper UTAU costume with a custom headset and everything. I'm almost done designing her headset, but I'm not the best with costume design so the rest will probably take a while. I'm a little bit sad because I'd really like to use bright colors like hot pink or sea-foam green or orange (or all 3!), but I just feel like it would be straying too far from her character design that I've already established if I don't use white and purples. I don't even like purple! Ugh! Oh well.

Fourth, I need to once and for all figure out how to alias her voicebank so it's both in romaji and hiragana. I feel like this should actually be at the top of the list, but it feels sort of daunting, so it's not. Heh.

Fifth, I'd like to make a lot more art for Yasune. I barely have any art for her and to be honest, the stuff I have I don't like. So I would really like to make some more art for her, as well as then I'll have broader options to use for videos when I make more songs with her.

And sixth, of course, I want to make more songs with her!

Also, as an update, someone used Yasune for the first time! Wooooo! It's a medley with a whopping 67 UTAU's!! It's absolutely incredible, and I'm so honored that someone liked Yasune-chan enough to use her. The video is here, and it's by a lovely person named AMBIENTloids. Go check 'em out!

Back to square one (sort of)

So, I've finally decided to rerecord Yasune's voicebank. Whether or not I'll actually be successful in finishing this lengthy endeavor will remain to be seen, but, for now, that's what I'm planning to do. I think I have somewhat of a better idea of how I need to time the recordings in order for everything to fall together properly. I think I need to make my consonants shorter, that's a big issue. I don't want to make the sounds overall any shorter though, or choppier, because I think Yasune-chan tends to have a smoother sound to her voice than a lot of UTAUloids I've come across and I definitely want to keep that, it's just that her timing tends to be off because of the way she was recorded. So. That's where we're at. I'll keep her old voicebank, of course, just in case I don't end up finishing this (which, knowing me, is more than likely).

I'm really really so happy with how Just Be Friends turned out. Even though I really can't take any credit except for Yasune's voice and fiddling around a VERY VERY tiny bit with the timing. The credit for the ust goes fully to LASTreminis. It's probably the best ust I've come across, honestly, because Yasune is just usually so fiddly and I barely had to fix ANYTHING. Anyways, here's the finished thing!




A side-note, the picture didn't actually turn out how I originally intended, simply because I got lazy. She was supposed to have another arm, actually, with her pinky finger tied with a red thread (google the red thread of fate if you don't know about that) leading off to the side of the picture...but I just got bored and wanted to get it up on YouTube (and didn't feel like drawing fingers) to be perfectly honest! This is the picture with the original outline I had overlayed on it so you can see what I originally intended (and obviously I would have drawn in her fingers):

But yeah, oh well, I'm pretty happy with the picture how it is, anyway, thinking back I almost like the one I went with better because in the original one her arm is at a slightly awkward angle? I dunno. Either way I'm cool with it.

I know. I know. I left. Again.
But I'm back now and that's all that matters!

So, little update on where things are at the moment... Kage is on hold, and I'm focusing on working on Yasune. I'm actually debating re-recording some (or even all...gulp) of her voicebank due to a few issues I have with a couple of the recordings (various things, from the mic spazzing out in the beginning making popping sounds, or just not quite recorded the right length so it doesn't fit quite right in fast songs).

Right now I'm putting that on the shelf for a moment though and having her sing 'Just Be Friends' (orig. by Megurine Luka) because I found an AMAZING UST of it - here's the video I got the UST off of. It's going really well so far, I'm barely having to tweak anything which is SO SO rare for poor Yasune-chan, I'm just having to go through and fill in the lyrics in romaji since frankly I can't be bothered to go get a voicebank converter when I barely understand the base program to begin with! The faster bits of the song are slightly...um...incoherent, but, that's okay. I'm passing it off as Yasune being nervous about singing such a hard song and shyly mumbling her way through it... I guess... OTL

So, anyways, Just Be Friends should hopefully be up on YouTube soon-ish, I do wanna do a new drawing of Yasune-chan for that though, which I haven't even started yet. Uuurg. So who knows how long that'll take. Oh well.

I'm back. Sort of.

After months and months and months and months and-- well, you get the point, it's been a long time-- of not even bothering to open UTAU, I'm finally working on my little Yasune-chan again. Why? Because my bloody computer is broken and I had to delete all the games I had on it, off of it. But somehow, miraculously, UTAU works. So there ya go.

Right now I'm trying to take all the hard "tuh" sounds out from the beginning of all of the sounds starting with t, which isn't an easy feat. I'm almost thinking about rerecording her soundbank altogether, but I honestly don't think my computer could take it. So, yeah, that's about all that's going on at the moment, just more tinkering around with her oto.ini.

*stretches and blows the cobwebs off of her blog*

Well. I haven't posted for MONTHS, so I figured I would. XD

First of all, Kage is pretty much at a standstill.  Why?  Because recording is a great big pain in the butt and I don't feel like it at the moment.  From the few things I DO have in his voicebank, though, I've come to realize that his voice is way too deep for a 14-year-old, so Yasune-chan's getting a big brother instead of a twin. XD I think I'll switch his age to 16 or 17.

Secondly, I actually got Yasune to sing a WHOLE SONG.  WUHOUDHWJUHWQIAQSOLIWHJODGOSAGOSOGBODWUBGOYFEOUISAB.

*deep breath* Whew.  Sorry, I'm just really excited, as I'm sure you can tell. XDDD

Ehh...lessee...anything else neeww.... Oh!  I've been working on Yasune-chan's oto.ini a bit more, and a more up-to-date version of her voicebank will be up soon.

In other news, I'll be making a COLLAB. X3 A twin set of UTAUloids, to be specific, with the lovely Luna-chan. =D

Aaand I'm also debating making a Japanese/Korean UTAUloid, but we'll see. XD

Pre-made UST's are simultaneously epic win and epic fail.

Epic win because I can't make them by myself, evidently.  I suck.  I suck out loud.
Epic fail because most of the ones I found are in...hiragana, I'm assuming, and therefore not compatible with Yasune's voicebank. =)

I did find one site, though, that is amazing. -Link to the site of amazingness-  I'm using one of their UST's for "Melt" at the moment, because it is...thankfully, mostly in romaji.  The rest I can fill in by myself.  I do have to tweak it a lot, because Yasune's voice is still a bit wonky, and doesn't totally fit the tempo very well, but it's still better than nothing. XD

Yasune-chan's voice sounds so strange with vibrato to me after hearing it totally flat for so long. XD (Also, is it just me, or does she sound like a little baby? X3)
But, anyways, the first time she's ever sung with background music!  I'm so proud of my baby for progressing this far. ;_;
